I bet, you have. Because everyone loves quizzes!
We love them because they are so much fun, they are entertaining, and in some cases, they are even useful. For example, in helping you decide which eyeglass shape fits your face and style best or how ready your organization is for an enterprise Windows 10 migration!
Today, we are going to use this quiz to find out whether or not Growth-Driven Design (GDD) is right for your company or if you should rather stick with the traditional website design approach. So, let's dive right in:
What Makes Your Organization A Great Fit For GDD?
Don't get me wrong - I think GDD is the best thing that happened to the web design world since the discovery (or at least the public acknowledgment) that sliders are incredibly annoying, two sidebars are a complete overkill and invention of personalization based on your visitor's preferences!
I DO believe every company could benefit greatly from Growth-Driven Design — BUT I don't think every organization is cut out for it! There are many factors that contribute to whether or not you as an organization can embrace it enough to give it enough freedom to flourish.
To find out if your organization does fit the bill, ask yourself:
- How comfortable is your company with innovation? Are you the leader of the pack - always trying to do the next big thing? Or do you rather stick with what's tried-and-true?
- How flexible is your organization with adopting processes that might be unfamiliar to you?
- How do you feel about launching something quickly rather than waiting for "perfect"?
- Is your organization data-driven, always measuring, tweaking, and adjusting?
- Do you have a corporate identity that fosters continuous learning and knowledge transfer between departments?
- How does your organization feel about following user feedback - e.g., letting the user make the design choices versus the head of the department or the business owner?
- Does your company depend on lead generation from the website as a reliable source of new prospects? If so: Do you have an Inbound Marketing in place or are you planning on doing so soon?
- How do you feel about ongoing investments of money and resources versus a one time lump-sum or one-time project?
While some factor less into the decision whether you are a great fit or not, some are complete deal breakers.
For example, if your organization will never feel comfortable following the user's lead and a key stakeholder overrules the test results to push through his or her choice, Growth-Driven Design will not work for you. In this case, you should stick with traditional web design (or better yet, make a data-based plea why it would be more sensible to follow the user's lead).
